The Law Office of Oprea & Weber is an Austin divorce and family law firm built on a simple belief: people going through the hardest chapters of their lives deserve a lawyer who knows them, not just their file. Our story starts with two attorneys who could have spent their careers in the largest law firms in the country and chose a different path. That choice still shapes how we practice every day.
Who We Are
The Law Office of Oprea & Weber is a boutique family law firm located at 1411 West Ave, Suite 200, in Austin, Texas. Founded in 2014 by law partners and spouses Kevin Weber and Karen Oprea, the firm represents clients in divorce, child custody, child support, spousal maintenance, property division, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, paternity, SAPCR suits, and post-divorce modifications throughout Travis, Williamson, Hays, and Bastrop Counties. Both founders graduated magna cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School and bring Big Law training, appellate experience, and a cooperative philosophy to every family they represent.
How Our Firm Began
Kevin and Karen met long before they practiced law together. Both earned their undergraduate degrees at Hillsdale College, then went on to the University of Michigan Law School, where each graduated magna cum laude in 2012. After law school, both were admitted to practice in New York and began their careers in Manhattan.
Kevin joined Latham & Watkins in Midtown Manhattan, one of the most respected law firms in the world, where he trained in complex commercial litigation and high-stakes negotiation. Karen received an offer from the Manhattan office of White & Case, a top-tier multinational firm, but chose instead to represent people who could not afford a lawyer at the Criminal Appeals Bureau of the New York Legal Aid Society.
In 2014, the two were admitted to the State Bar of Texas and opened their own practice in Austin. They wanted to build a firm where clients would work directly with highly trained attorneys, where every case would receive real attention, and where the goal would be solving problems rather than prolonging them.

Kevin Weber, Partner
Kevin graduated magna cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif, an honor reserved for the top graduates of the nation’s leading law schools. His years at Latham & Watkins taught him how to prepare a case thoroughly, negotiate effectively, and anticipate problems before they arise.
Today, Kevin’s practice is focused on family law, including premarital and postmarital agreements, collaborative and mediated divorce, divorces involving complex property, custody and support enforcement, modification suits, and mediation of all types of family law disputes. He also has significant experience with civil and family appeals, contract disputes, and federal civil rights litigation. Kevin is licensed in Texas and New York and admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Western District of Texas and the Southern District of New York. Karen Oprea, Partner
Karen graduated magna cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School and began her career defending the rights of indigent clients on appeal at the New York Legal Aid Society. Since then, she has briefed a wide range of issues in state and federal courts, from constitutional and civil rights law to business disputes, family law, and statutory interpretation.
Karen has argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, the Texas Courts of Appeals, and the New York appellate courts. She is licensed in Texas and New York and admitted to the Fifth Circuit, the Western District of Texas, and the Southern District of New York.
